I have been feeling a bit barren and broken lately. Losing a month and counting to COVID with a long list of to do’s has not helped me feel like I’ve accomplished much for the kingdom. But God has been gracious to me.
In the downtime He has exposed things I never knew were hidden in the depths: fears and faulty theology rooted in my past, including a driving need to feel safe and have access to reliable help (which makes sense coming from someone who endured a lot of trauma in her life).
God is kind that way. He exposes our brokenness in order to mend it. And sometimes He lays us down in sickness in order to tend to that which we might otherwise be too busy to take notice of.
His way is to heal us from the inside out.
Daniel 2:22 (NIV) says...
He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.
He alone knows what is hidden in the dark, in the recesses of our hearts and minds, and light dwells with Him. Light meant to expose our frailties so we can uproot them and plant His truth instead. His truth changes our perspective and corrects theology that went awry when our wounds took place.
Maybe you have been feeling battered too. Friend to friend, I encourage you to draw away by yourself, identify what you’re feeling, and ask God what your heart needs to know from Him about whatever is weighing you down. Invite His indwelling light into the dark places and watch Him brighten your day with His truth. He reveals what He wants to heal, so take courage and let the Light in!
